I am directed by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to

inform you that, subject to your being passed by the medical adviser of this Department as physically fit for service, he proposes to select you for the

appointment of Wardmaster in the Hong Kong Medical Department,

with salary at the rate of $866 a year rising by annual increments of $60 to $1,046 a year with an allowance

of $84 a year for light or fuel. Free quarters will be provided.

The sterling value of the dollar varies from time to time and is at present about 2/-, but you will receive exchange compensation, an allowance to bring up your salary

to the value of 3/- the dollar.

3. You will be required, if appointed, to give security to the extent of $400

in respect of the pecuniary responsibility attaching to your office. Your salary will be deducted

signified through the Secretary of State, in which case no special formalities

are required.
